Job Purpose

The Battery Safety Engineer will work with the Battery Design Engineers to validate battery module and pack safety performance. They will also work cross-functionally with the homologation team to develop test methods for the applicable regulatory and industry requirements. The battery safety engineer will be responsible for test method development, test execution and data analysis. Previous experience in an automotive role is required.


  • Conduct module and pack level battery safety and abuse tests
  • Develop new test methods based on industry standards and regulations
  • Work with battery design and release engineers to understand and improve battery requirements
  • Work with outside test houses to schedule and conduct testing
  • Analyze test data and prepare test reports
  • Present findings to key stakeholders
  • Assist with validation testing in the high voltage battery lab


    • Bachelor’s in engineering or related field required
    • 2-3 years’ experience in an automotive field
    • Prior experience working with automotive communication protocols and tools (i.e. CANAlyzer)
    • Previous battery experience is a plus
    • Strong data analysis, presentation and communication skills required
    • Ability to work on a team as well as individually
    • 25% travel may be required
