Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize test requests for technician support needs for various test activities
  • Schedule technician and contract driver/operator workflow while creating process and procedures for efficient activities and track bandwidth
  • Manage and maintain test equipment, Data Acquisition tools, Instrumentations & sensors, specialty tools, shop equipment, and test laboratory equipment
  • Create maintenance schedules for in-house test laboratories and specialized test equipment
  • Track equipment calibration needs and arrange for equipment to be sent out-of-house for recalibration when required
  • Integrate the activities of tracking technician workforce assignments & total bandwidth utilization, vehicle and test article configurations, component serial numbers, software versions for historical record-keeping within an all new Test Lifecycle software tool
  • Oversee Fleet Management of Test Vehicles and Test assets and create the check-in/out utilization of all fleet vehicles and their key assignment
  • Source test workshop equipment, toolboxes, hand tools, supplies, and consumables
  • Configure, set-up, and maintain test vehicle fleet for safe operation
  • Manage instrumentation and data acquisition tool installations onto test vehicles, create custom fixtures as needed to install sensors and test equipment
  • Manage vehicle setups and inspections prior to vehicles shipping outbound for tests, as well as post-test inspections and vehicle teardowns at the conclusion of tests
  • Plan out travel and shipping logistics for technicians, vehicles, components, tools, and equipment
  • Plan out spare parts needs for test activities and inventory hardware for test trips
  • Provide daily written and verbal test vehicle status updates and track KPI’s
  • When needed, provide hands-on support of general vehicle testing activities such as Homologation, Performance, Strength, Abuse, Durability, and various Reliability Tests

Experience

  • Automotive Technical degree preferred such as an associate degree in automotive technology or having multiple ASE certifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an automotive technician
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
  • Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles
  • Knowledge of Battery Electric Vehicle architecture with an understanding of Powertrain, Battery, Chassis, Body, and 12Volt systems and an understanding of vehicle firmware
  • Ability to operate diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment tools
  • Ability to instrument vehicles with various Data Acquisition tools and Sensors
  • Hands-on ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and vehicle workshop tools in servicing automobiles
  • Ability to work as a member of a small, nimble team and work in a self-directed manner
  • Must be able to manage changing priorities and balance workload
  • Maintain a professional appearance of both self and workspace within a vehicle workshop
