Job Purpose

Canoo’s Customer Journey and Aftersales Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Director of Service Engineering.  The primary responsibility of this role is to build a team, develop and execute an industry leading Service Engineering Area including Quality Measures & Compliance, Warranty, Field Technical Service, Quality Evaluation and Service Design. You will have a significant leadership role within the company and manage a budget to insure an international implementation.  

Reporting to the Senior VP Customer Journey and Aftersales, the person in this role will support the service department's objective to ensure the customer has a memorable and exceptional service experience from beginning to end.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and develop an industry leading Automotive Service Engineering Team including Quality Measures & Compliance, Warranty, Field Technical Service, Quality Evaluation, Service Design
  • Encourage and coach team members to perform at optimal levels and provide feedback.
  • Maintain financial responsibility for setup and daily operation
  • Focus solutions on commercial and private customers
  • Work across enterprise applications to help establish and execute project management
  • Drive complex projects from concept to launch, articulating processes to help team succeed including not only managing risks but predicting them
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to develop project plans, goals, and milestones
  • Track milestones, progress, dependencies, and issues closely while communicating effectively to leadership and stakeholders
  • Setup a business intelligence environment and data driven approach

Required Experience

  • Automotive Experience is essential to build and guide the Service Engineering Team
  • At least 5+ years of automotive service engineering management experience
  • You lead and develop multiple teams in this space
  • Understanding of the global government-related quality & compliance processes
  • Understanding of the “new” BEV/EV industry
  • Curiosity to pursue continuous learning and application of technologies to achieve desired business, architectural, and productivity outcomes
  • Superior stakeholder management and communication skill
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Experience working with and leading Agile teams
  • Ability to keep things moving and see the big picture while ensuring near term execution
  • Ability to achieve results under tough circumstances
  • You are inspiring and a bold leader who is willing to take risk and move fast

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is strongly desired
  • Experience with an EV Automotive company
