Job Purpose

The Additive Manufacturing Intern will work closely with the IHM prototype manufacturing team as well as various Engineering groups. You will assist in print lab operations, part processing and data processing. You will help develop Prototypes for testing and review.

This is a paid internship for Summer 2021 with an option to start on May 24, 2021 or June 21, 2021 and an option to end on August 13, 2021 or September 10, 2021.


  • Introduction to Hewlet Packard MFJ (Multi Jet Fusion) Print ecosystem
  • Light duty machine maintenance such as cleaning and component replacement
  • Evacuation of printed components, unloading and filling MJF build volumes
  • Post processing and cleaning of printed components in preparation for integration (sandblasting, glue and assembly, prep and paint, quality control)
  • Assist with inventory and organization of components and consumables within the print lab
  • Aid in CAD design and data prep for prototype builds

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs and be capable of utilizing dollies and pallet jacks
  • Ensure work areas are clean and organized daily
  • Applicant must be willing to work 40+ hours a week on-site in Torrance, CA


  • Passion for working with your hands in a digitally focused environment

  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a highly team-oriented environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Basic technical knowledge in additive manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to perform hands-on work in a lab environment
  • Hands on skills with tools and machines in a metal or woodshop environment is preferred
  • Detail-oriented, quality and precision-focused
  • Self-motivated with a positive “can do” attitude
