Job Purpose

As an Power Electronics Intern, you will assist in the development of the power electronics for the vehicle. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to assist in design, development and testing of On Board Charger and DC-DC converters for Canoo’s electric vehicle.

This is a paid internship for Summer 2021 with an option to start on May 24, 2021 or June 21, 2021 and an option to end on August 13, 2021 or September 10, 2021.

Responsibilities

  • With general supervision, this position needs an innovative individual to assist with development and designing products
    • Assist in the troubleshooting of engineering challenges

    Experience

    • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Master’s of Science or PhD degree in Power Electronics
    • Hands on exposure to power electronic circuit topology selection, simulation, component selection, PCB design, assembly, and laboratory testing
    • Hands on exposure to statistical analysis of large datasets, design of experiments, worst-case circuit analysis, circuit simulations, and high-speed high-fidelity switching measurements in the lab
    • Experience with Altium schematics and PCB layout tools
    • Experience in PLECS, MATLAB / Simulink environment
    • Knowledge of AC/DC or DC/DC conversion
    • Strong soldering skills of through hole and surface mount components
    • Experience in setting up and executing tests, collecting data, analyzing data and creating detailed summaries with clear conclusions
    • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across different teams
    • Participating with defining problems, collecting data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion
    • Electronics design and testing
    • BOM updates, PDM updates
    • Electronics component verification
    • Circuit analysis and testing
