Job Purpose

Lead and grow organization to design, develop, validate, and implement a fully competitive Vehicle Chassis in consumer and fleet vehicle applications. Institute standardized product design methods and processes to ensure smooth vehicle development and product launches. Set chassis system strategies, component catalog, and technology roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Grow engineering team capabilities in the design and development of vehicle Chassis (Brakes, Steering, Suspension, Electronic Controls, Tires & Wheels)
  • Drive design, engineering, and optimization of all chassis systems
  • Develop long term roadmap and strategy for Canoo’s chassis systems, with resource and financial needs
  • Maintain deep supplier relationships with key strategic suppliers for all chassis systems
  • Evaluate and benchmark OEM/supplier technology roadmaps and formulate proof points to gauge Canoo’s competitive position
  • Create and maintain internal Canoo’s chassis platforms and vehicle use case roadmap
  • Advise Canoo executive management on matters of chassis engineering

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering
  • 5 or more years leading chassis engineering
  • Strong current network of contacts within the relevant chassis supply community
  • Deep technical acumen and hands-on experience
  • Executive presence to succinctly report status and recommendations for action
  • Experience creating and executing chassis engineering design, development, and validation test plans, including electronic chassis controls
  • Up to date with current trends of chassis electronic control and component system technologies

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with ISO26262 standards and due care criteria
  • Experience with chassis design simulation tools
